Togo (2019) (1BD) Blu-ray
Journey into the frozen wilderness of Alaska with Togo, an inspiring adventure film based on the true story of one of the most remarkable sled dogs in history.
Set in 1925, the film follows champion sled-dog trainer Leonhard Seppala and his lead dog, Togo, during the dangerous serum run to Nome, Alaska. When a deadly epidemic strikes the remote community of Nome, urgently needed antitoxin serum must be transported across hundreds of miles of harsh Alaskan terrain.
Seppala turns to Togo, an undersized and aging Siberian Husky whose determination, intelligence and loyalty make him uniquely suited to lead the team through the dangerous journey. The mission forces both man and dog to confront freezing temperatures, powerful storms, dangerous terrain and extreme exhaustion.
Starring Willem Dafoe as Leonhard Seppala and Julianne Nicholson as his wife Constance, the film also explores the deep bond between Seppala and Togo. Their relationship is developed through flashbacks showing Togo’s journey from an underestimated puppy to an extraordinary working dog.
Directed by Ericson Core, Togo combines breathtaking Alaskan landscapes with thrilling sled-dog action and an emotional story about courage, perseverance, loyalty and determination. Disney describes the film as the untold true story of Seppala and Togo’s extraordinary journey across the Alaskan tundra.
The film is inspired by the real events of the 1925 Serum Run, when teams of sled dogs and mushers helped transport diphtheria antitoxin to Nome. The story places particular focus on Togo and Seppala’s role in the dangerous journey.
This 1BD Blu-ray is an ideal addition to collections featuring adventure films, inspirational true stories, animal movies and family-friendly entertainment.
